Localised flooding in Fenstanton

Heading into Winter, your Parish Council has been concerned with the ongoing issue of localised flooding in Fenstanton every time we have a significant downpour. As a result, Cllrs Roy McGee and Paul Kent met with CCC Highways yesterday, to inspect known problem locations identified by the Parish Council.

The following actions are been taken following yesterday’s inspection:

1) Church Lane, between the Baptist Church and Parish Church:
Twelve week order raised by CCC Highways on blocked drains. Specialist inspection and clearance team to be deployed.

2) Junction of Church Lane and Chequer Street, outside Ron’s:
Drain has recently been unblocked by CCC Highways.

3) Junction of Chequer Street and Hall Green Lane, esp by the green where the drains are clogged with mud and leaves:
Drains to be manually cleared of blockages over the next week.

4) Huntingdon Road before the Turnpike corner at Low Road:
Twelve week order raised by CCC Highways on blocked drain.

5) Talls Lane – a lot of surface water when it rains heavily:
Twelve week order raised by CCC Highways on blocked drain.

6) Swan Lane – a lot of surface water when it rains heavily:
Parish Council (PK) to request HDC to attend and sweep the road.
CCC Highways will then re-attend when it is drier, it would appear there maybe offlets running under the path which are blocked but due to the standing water it was difficult to establish.

7) Chequer Street – along grass verges. Mud from the grassed area has carried into the drains and they are solid with no chance of water flowing away.
Twelve week order raised by CCC Highways on blocked drain.

8) Car Park in front of the Parish Church:
Not CCC Highways responsibility, HDC are responsible – Parish Council to report (PK).

9) Corner of Church Leys and Church Street floods quickly:
Twelve week order raised by CCC Highways to clear blocked drain.

10) Car Park at school blockage may be linked to others:
School Lane – Drain located in the car park is blocked but not CCC Highways responsibility. Fenstanton Parish Council (PK) / school head to report the potholes/drain to CCC Education Dept.

11) Church Street outside number 3, drain blockage found:
Twelve week order raised by CCC Highways to clear blocked drain.

12) High Street drain blockage found:
Twelve week order raised by CCC Highways on blocked drain.

13) Low Road Crystal Lakes blocked gullies identified:
Twelve week order raised by CCC on blocked drain.
