Welcome to the new Community Warden – Maria Reynolds

It is a great pleasure to report that a Community Warden has been recruited by Age UK Cambridgeshire and Peterborough to cover the villages of Fen Drayton, Fenstanton and Lolworth.

Maria starts on the 18th January.  This is the culmination of a project between the three Parish Councils and Age UK supported by Cambridge County Council and South Cambs District Council.

Maria is 47 and a mother of two.  She spent the first part of her working life in the Banking industry and volunteering with the homeless and young families.  Whilst she enjoyed this work, she felt more fulfilled in the work she did whilst volunteering.  With the support of her husband, she changed careers and became a Care Co-ordinator in Cambridgeshire. During this time, her son was diagnosed with autism so she became a full-time carer for him. Not wanting to give up helping others, Maria continued volunteering and also started studying at home for her Social Psychology degree, which she is now in her second year.

Maria has joined Age UK due to her passion to help others and is keen to meet members of our community.

The role of a Community Warden, like Maria, is to assist people over 60 to live independently at home.  If you know of anyone in Fenstanton who may be interested in this service please do not hesitate to get in touch.  This can be via emailing: wardens@ageukcap.org.uk or calling: 07445 151 635.

All enquiries will be kept confidential by Age UK Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

We look forward to welcoming Maria to Fenstanton and wish her every success in her new job.
